Primary Purpose:
The curriculum and instruction specialist will work with content coordinators to develop quality curriculum unit planning documents, align curriculum to TRS and TEKS, and provide support for campus teachers to strengthen curriculum implementation.
They will support campuses with the data driven instructional process within Professional Learning Communities, interpret and analyze data, support the implementation of the Relay/Get Better Faster framework and provide content specific personalized professional learning to adult learners.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Knowledge of the Relay/Get Better Faster framework
Knowledge of the Science of Teaching Reading
Content knowledge in area assigned to (Humanities/STEM)
Proficiency with technology applications and digital resources
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and provide personalized professional learning to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven track record of student growth and positive evaluations from supervisor
Experience:
Minimum three years teaching experience in subject area assigned
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
Work with curriculum coordinators to develop curricular planning documents
Disseminate information regarding current research and best practices
Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies
Demonstrate understanding of the Science of Teaching Reading if assigned to ELAR or guided math in order to accelerate instruction for all students
Positively affect at-risk students through supporting teachers’ understanding of curriculum and instructional best practices
Design and create short cycle assessments and district benchmark assessments
Professional Development
Work collaboratively with assigned content coordinator to establish realistic and measureable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning
Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through collaborative planning through Professional Learning Communities
Develop knowledge of personalized learning and competencies involved for students, teachers, leaders and district personnel
Evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with establish district programs
Plan and provide appropriate personalized professional learning for teachers, administrators and staff
Improve knowledge and leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities and participate in professional development activities as directed
Other
Provide feedback to the C&I Division staff and campus principals regarding curriculum implementation
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
