*Part-time Plumbing Program Instructor (in-person)*

*Summary:*
This position is responsible for instructing program students in Skillpoint’s 4-week Pre-Apprentice Plumbing program.
This program is designed to provide basic, entry-level skills for new apprentices in the plumbing industry.
Program instruction is provided in person, with lecture and hands-on components.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Teach course according to curriculum and expectations
* Supervise and monitor students’ use of tools and equipment
* Monitor student attendance and participation and share information with Skillpoint staff
* Provide professional technical experience, in collaboration with Skillpoint staff members, to develop and grow the plumbing program
* Ensure that each trainee accomplishes and comprehends the necessary information to be employable upon graduation
* Engage with industry partners, when schedule allows, to incorporate their hiring needs into the plumbing program
* Accept recommendations for improving curriculum delivery and changing instruction approach to enhance the program if necessary
* Organize, set up and maintain equipment and/or supplies during class
* Managing negative classroom behavior and encouraging positive behavior
*REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION*
Qualified applicants will possess:
* Journey-level State of Texas Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSPBE) Plumbing License
* Experience in the construction and/or Plumbing industry
* Highly self-motivated requiring minimal supervision
* Ability to be flexible, persistent, and confident
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
* General working knowledge in Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); and E-mail software (Gmail)
*PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION*
* Experience with National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum
* Experience teaching a vocational training program or experience teaching team members
* Experience working with underserved populations, e.
g.
, individuals experiencing homelessness, at-risk youth, justice-involved individuals, or other underserved groups
* Some knowledge of distance-learning or virtual meeting software
*REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS*
* Valid driver license
* TSBPE Journey- or Master-level license
*COMPENSATION*
Hiring range is $30-35 per hour based on experience.
