*Job Goal:* Responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation and support of a comprehensive PK-12 G/T and STEM programs.
*POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:*
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
* Minimum 2 years of teaching experience (Preferred)
* G/T or STEM teaching experience (Preferred)
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
* Takes responsibility for planning, implementation, evaluation, and support of all G/T and STEM services at the campus.
* Works collaboratively with the campus administrators and/or teachers to develop an annual professional development plan designed specifically to meet the learning needs of G/T staff, classroom teachers and administrators.
* Serves as the chairperson of the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee and is responsible for the planning and convening of all G/T committee meetings throughout the school year.
* Takes responsibility for certification and accuracy of G/T student database and files.
* Monitors the campus G/T budget in accordance with established local and state policies and procedures.
* Takes responsibility for campus G/T screening
* Completes correspondence with parents regarding acceptance or denial into the G/T program and disseminate student testing results.
o Conducts routine audits of school-based G/T services to ensure compliance with district G/T plans.
o Serves as an advocate for the needs of G/T students in a professional and appropriate manner.
o Maintains an accurate list of identified G/T students per campus.
o Holds parent meetings about student opportunities and G/T services as necessary
o Assists coordinating school academic teams and competitions.
o Tracks G/T Professional development requirements at the campus as stated in the Texas State Plan for the education
of gifted/talented students and maintains documentation for compliance purposes.
o Develops, revises and updates Gifted Education Program and Service design on campus based on evaluation results and
campus needs.
o Assists teachers to develop and provides gifted and talented students with differentiation by modifying content (depth and
complexity), process (grouping and curriculum compacting), or product.
o Implements procedures and coordinates the process to identify gifted and talented students at all grade levels campus
wide, including review of student data and testing of students.
o Remains current on latest research and development in gifted education.
o Manages and evaluates the school’s gifted and talented program to ensure the highest level of quality.
o Supports STEM initiatives and STEM program implementation
o Coordinates STEM SOS Model PBL projects submission among STEM teachers for both G/T and Non-G/T students
o Serves as PLTW site coordinator
o Is responsible for setting up and maintenance of the Makerspace if needed
o Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external
to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,
calculator, copy machine and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
o Position is in office/classroom setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
o Moderate travel is required.
