POSITION: Classroom Instructional Facilitator EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt NUMBER OF DAYS: 187 PAY GRADE: $230.
00 /day DIVISION: Academics DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning REPORTS TO: Principal and Teachers Assigned SUPERVISES: None EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree preferred; minumum 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas EXPERIENCE: Some experience working with children Position Function/Purpose The Classroom Instructional Facilitator is responsible for the day to day instruction in the classroom.
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Enable students to develop competencies, and skills to function successfully in society.
Work under the supervision of a certified teacher to provide high quality instruction for students.
Major Responsibilities Instructional Management 1.
Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
2.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
3.
Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
4.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
5.
Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
6.
Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher assistant(s) and/or volunteer(s).
7.
Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
8.
Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
9.
Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
Student Growth and Development 10.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
11.
Assume responsibility for duties and/or extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
12.
Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
School/Organization Climate 13.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
14.
Establish control in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations.
15.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
16.
Assist before, during, and after the school day in the supervision of students as assigned by the principal.
17.
Promote a positive work environment and positive staff morale within the school.
School/Organization Improvement 18.
Participate with other staff in building a common vision for school improvement.
19.
Participate in planning and implementing activities to ensure attainment of school's mission.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management 20.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
School/Community Relations 21.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
22.
Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
23.
Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development 24.
Participate in the district professional development program.
25.
Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
26.
Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.
Policy Implementation 27.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
28.
Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
29.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Other Duties 30.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary for job effectiveness.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise assigned teacher assistant(s), if applicable.
Qualification Requirements 1.
High School Diploma or GED.
30 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited collegePossess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense) 2.
Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification.
The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall 1.
hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher; 2.
have satisfied one of the following requirements: a.
have three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; or b.
have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas;and have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent.

Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Paraprofessional Certificate (personal expense) 4.
Ability to work well with children 5.
Experience managing a classroom of students (preferred) 6.
Knowledge of general office equipment 7.
Knowledge of subjects assigned.
8.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
