Hiring Department The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Social Sciences welcomes applications for a Senior Lecturer who will primarily teach courses in the undergraduate criminology/criminal justice studies program.
If qualified, the person hired may do some teaching in the master of criminal justice administration program.
Salary For This Position $57,000.
00 Depending on Qualifications Essential Functions The Senior Lecturer will be one of 11 full-time faculty in the Department.
The person hired will mostly teach online courses and possibly some face to face courses (five courses per full semester).
Extensive service beyond the basics may lead to consideration of a course release.
1.
Should be able to teach a wide variety of criminal justice courses including some of the following: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Theories of Criminal Behavior, Criminal Justice Administration, Corrections in America, Research Methods, Quantitative Analysis, Juvenile Delinquency, Homeland Security, Probation and Parole, Application Practices in Criminal Justice, and other criminal justice courses that are of interest to the students and the hired faculty member.
May be assigned to manage the undergraduate Senior Internship program and/or to develop a capstone course as an alternative for students to the required Senior Internship.
A capstone course would allow students to explore criminal justice issues from affected agency views and from other stakeholder perspectives.

Provide some academic advising to students 3.
Provide support to students in need of academic improvement 4.
Engage in some service to the university, college, and department 5.
Actively participate in the department's expansion 6.
Other reasonable assignments as needed for the advancement of the undergraduate CCJS program.
Required Qualifications 1.
Masters Degree or Doctorate in criminal justice, criminology, or other closely related field (a JD may be considered).

Experience in online and face to face teaching 3.
At least three years of experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, courts, corrections, or other closely related areas Preferred Qualifications 1.
Doctorate in Criminal Justice, criminology, or other closely related field 2.
Willingness to relocate to the Permian Basin area Additional Information From the Department The Department consists of five program area majors: Undergraduate Political Science (PLSC), Undergraduate Criminology and Criminal Justice Services (CCJS), Master of Criminal Justice Administration (CJAD), Master of Public Administration (MPAL), and Undergraduate Sociology (SOCI).
The Department also includes an economist who oversees course offerings in Economics (ECON).
Department faculty sometimes undertake interdisciplinary efforts involving faculty within the Department and/or with others outside the Department.

Schedule Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch.
The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department.
Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
