Garfield, Midland, TX Job Summary Responsible for planning and coordinating campus-wide student activities, including but not limited to, traditional events, such as, Welcome Week(s), Wellness Week(s), Homecoming, and Finals Countdown, cultural and heritage events, and social and recreational programs.
Other responsibilities include overseeing the intramurals program, advising the student pep squad /spirit group (Chap Pack), the mascot program, and general oversight of the Student Center and game room.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree; or Associate’s Degree (or equivalent – 60 college credit hours) and a minimum of two years of relevant experience that includes demonstrated work experience with detail-oriented tasks of a significant nature Strong organization, planning, and managerial skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate student engagement programs Interpersonal skills with a demonstrated record of successful work with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside a higher education setting Ability to exercise initiative and work independently Track, collect, and synthesize data in spreadsheets and report formats Use tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality Strong commitment to teamwork and student support Common knowledge of different sporting equipment, rules, and field setup Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy Preferred Qualifications Experience working in student personnel, student activities, counseling, sports, or a closely related field Bachelor’s Degree in a student-services, event planning, or business-related field Essential Functions Plan, implement, and execute a robust and diverse variety of appropriate activities for a diverse population of students, including but not limited to traditional events, cultural and heritage events, and social and recreational programming.
Responsible for the coordination of large-scale traditional events each semester, including but not limited to, Welcome Week, Wellness Week, Homecoming, and Finals Countdown Oversee and advise the pep squad/spirit group (Chap Pack) program and the mascot (Pepe) program.
Plan and coordinate intramural and recreational sports programs and activities that engages students and employees.
Coordinate and promote a variety of health and wellness initiatives for the campus community in collaboration with Counseling, Health Sciences, and off-campus organizations.
Manage Student Center, including student Game Room and eating area and aid with the development of the e-sports program.
Supervise College Work Study (CWS) students and provide them guidance, direction, and support to fulfill their job responsibilities.
Collaborate with campus clubs, organizations, and departments to plan activities, events, and coordinate the use of campus facilities.
Oversee the student activities calendar of events and aid in the promotion and marketing of Student Life and campus-wide events and programs.
Use a wide range of accessible media, including educational technologies, electronic and web-based programs, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) to create, develop, and promote student participation in programs and activities.
Support the Student Life team with other aspects of the department, including, clubs and organizations, orientation, commencement, Residence Life, Chap Pantry, etc.
Respect and maintain the confidentiality of all students and staff and all student and staff records.
Work effectively both autonomously and as a team member.
Will be working directly with students, faculty, and staff.
Some travel may be required.
Fiscal management of multiple budgets.
Participate in continuing education, professional and personal development opportunities.
