*Teacher - Grade Four ELAR/SS, Lower School* *Full-time, Exempt* *Reports to: Head of Lower School * Job Description 2024-2025 Lower School teachers report to the Head of Lower School.
The Grade Four Teacher is expected to perform other duties as assigned beyond those responsibilities stated below and is expected to support the school and its leadership in pursuit of the school mission, values, and core competencies.
Mission: Trinity School of Midland is a college preparatory community that provides a nurturing environment to enrich the mind, strengthen the body, enliven the soul, and inspire servant leadership.
_*Responsibilities*_ ● Plan and provide instruction for the core academic subjects of Reading, Writing, and Social Studies.
● Develop and utilize both formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
● Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to employ best instructional practices for a wide spectrum of learners.
● Provide accommodations and enrichment to meet the needs of students with documented learning differences and those who may be academically or intellectually advanced.
● Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to reach students within their zone of proximal development.
● Develop and evaluate grade-level curriculum using the school’s curriculum mapping platform.
● Work with content area and special subject area teachers to develop interdisciplinary connections as appropriate.
● Maintain documentation of student academic progress and behavior.
● Initiate and maintain open channels of communication with parents.
● Assist in identifying children who may need short- or long-term interventions.
● Administer standardized tests and benchmark assessments.
● Implement best practices for positive classroom management.
● Support children in building executive functioning and social-emotional skills to enhance learning.
● When needed, work closely with and support instructional aides.
● Attend meetings as needed with administrators, teachers, advisors, and parents.
● Have a strong desire and drive to pursue additional educational and/or professional development opportunities.
● Participate outside of the classroom in support of student-centered activities.
_*Required Qualifications*_ ● Bachelor’s degree with teaching experience[1] .
● Ability to articulate program needs and concerns.
● Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators in support of the mission of the school.
● Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.
● Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact.
● Ability to partner with parents and to communicate effectively with them.
_*Preferred Qualifications*_ ● Advanced degree.
● Experience with a workshop approach to teaching.
_*Physical Requirements*_ The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

● Frequent reaching and hand dexterity for handling motor skills equipment and clerical tasks (such as handwriting, handling a clipboard, index cards, or notebooks, use of the telephone, keyboard, operating office tools and machines); manipulating small and medium size objects.
● Some squatting/kneeling may be needed for specific activities.
● Able to lift, push and pull up to 30 pounds.
Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
_*Work Environment*_ ● May deal with stressful situations in the normal course of duties, including a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
● The work environment is a standard classroom, gymnasium, and/or outdoor setting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and/or outdoor weather conditions.
The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or bodily fluids.
