*Middle School Education Support Service Teacher*

*Reports to: Middle School Division Head *
Job Description 2024-2025
Reporting to the Head of Middle School and directly supervised by the Middle School/Upper School Educational Support Services (ESS) Director, the ESS Teacher teaches self-motivated, hard-working Middle School students.
To ensure success in the pursuit of the School’s mission, the ESS Teacher should possess a deep commitment to and a passion for teaching and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
The candidate should possess strong leadership qualities that inspire, motivate, and develop students, providing comprehensive academic, emotional, and executive functioning support.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with all content teachers and be flexible and caring while holding students to high expectations in academic endeavors inside and outside of the classroom.
Finally, successful candidates should be committed to collaborative curriculum development and continued professional development.

_*Educational Support Services Teacher:*_ * Engages with small groups of students, usually 4-8 students per group.
He or she must be able to help students with all content area curriculum except World Languages (e.
g.
, Mathematics, Science, History, and Language Arts)- .
The specialist may coordinate meetings with administrators, teachers, advisors, and parents of students experiencing academic difficulties.
* Advocates for all students with all varieties of learning needs, documented as formal learning differences or not.
This includes coordinating student accommodations according to school policy.
* Communicates with the Division Head and faculty regarding current participants in the ESS program and attends divisional and departmental meetings as necessary.
* Serves as a Middle School Student Advisor * Contributes to the broader Trinity School community where applicable by participating in extracurricular activities, possibly including the athletic program, student life, overnight trips, lunch and carpool duties, and/or club programs.
* Implements school safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
_*Required Qualifications*_ * Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
* Teaching experience preferred.
* Familiarity with secondary private/independent schools culture preferred.
* Experience designing and implementing a balanced, sequential, developmentally appropriate curriculum and engaging students in learning.
* Enthusiasm for and knowledge of the subject.
* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Commitment to collaboration with instructors in other academic areas.
* Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including composing and proofreading.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.
* Ability to use applicable computer programs and technology.
* Proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

Usually needed intermittently for brief and long periods of time.

_*Work Environment*_ * May deal with stressful situations in the normal course of duties, including a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
* The work environment is a standard office, classroom, gymnasium, and/or outdoor setting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and/or outdoor weather conditions.
The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or bodily fluids.
