*Permian Basin Rural Student Success Coordinator*
Reports To: Student Success Manager

We are currently seeking a Permian Basin Rural Student Success Coordinator with excellent customer service skills who thrives in a fast paced, challenging work environment.
The Permian Basin Rural Student Success Coordinator will work closely with students enrolled in our training programs to help them successfully graduate and be hired for employment.
While students are in class, the coordinator will be responsible for identifying obstacles that are hindering them from graduating.
The coordinator also works intensively with students to prepare for employment by offering resume and interview preparation workshops, and the coordinator also helps students apply for jobs.
This position is responsible for retaining students in Skillpoint programs through coaching and mentoring, classroom management and helping program graduates succeed in employment.
This position will primarily be housed out of Skillpoint’s Midland location at 3200 W.
Cuthbert Ave, Midland, Texas 79701 and will also frequently visit our other class locations in Odessa, Pecos, Carlsbad, and any future Permian Basin class sites.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Core duties and responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
* Skill and expertise navigating the many challenges that often keep students from enrolling and staying in school, ranging from academic preparedness to financial stressors to mental health concerns.
* Providing industry-specific professional development training to program participants, including resume writing, cover letter writing, interview preparation, and soft skills coaching – provided both in one-on-one and classroom settings.
* Routinely visit classes to assess and address student barriers and needs.
* Monitor student attendance and provide feedback to Skillpoint instructors and staff when issues or concerns arise.
* Research and connect students to wrap-around services to support students, including but not limited to: emergency funds, housing referrals, and transportation assistance, with a focus on identifying and establishing relationships with organizations that provide resources to individuals in rural Permian Basin communities * Provide consistent, regular job placement support to students, particularly during the initial 30 days after graduation.
* Conduct outreach and follow-up communication for 180 days after graduation to determine graduate employment status; update an internal database with employment information as soon as it is obtained.
* Proctor student exams as needed.
* Travel between various class locations in order to meet in person with students and site instructors.
* Conduct check-ins with students to identify obstacles to success and issues that need to be addressed with instructors and other staff.
* Meet regularly with instructors to discuss and track student progress.
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:* Qualified applicants will possess: * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 4 years of professional work experience, preferably in an education, nonprofit, and/or workforce development environment.
* Bilingual English and Spanish preferred with proficiency in conversational and written communications.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide creative solutions to students’ barriers to success.
* Ability to work collaboratively with the team as well as independently manage time spent while traveling to rural Permian Basin communities.
* Highly organized, systematic thinker and self-motivated individual.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including techniques for positive motivation, providing constructive criticism and promoting teamwork.
Ability to quickly establish rapport and trust with students.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and classroom management.
* Direct work with justice-impacted, low-income, minority, diverse, at-risk, veteran, homeless and/or unemployed individuals.
* Proficient with modern office technology and computers, including MS Office and Google applications.
* Ability to maintain detailed records, complete necessary paperwork, and meet deadlines.
* Local travel within the Permian Basin is required of this position; reliable transportation is required.
*PHYSICAL AND WORK DEMANDS:* * Significant computer work and a heavy volume of phone work are required.
* Able to work a flexible schedule in order to connect with students when they are available.
* Valid driver license required.
* Utilize company-provided phone to connect with students, which may involve some work availability outside of core business hours in order to address students’ needs.
