*General Summary*
Odessa College invites applications for a dynamic and dedicated full-time Music Professor specializing in either guitar/string instruments or wind instruments.
This position is within our NASM-accredited music program.
The successful candidate will have the versatility to teach private lessons, ensemble courses, music theory, and music appreciation across online, in-person, and hybrid formats.
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of music education at Odessa College by contributing to the development of innovative courses, performing at high standards, and engaging in meaningful service to the college and community.
The successful candidate may be required to teach during evenings and weekends to accommodate our diverse student body, including working professionals and non-traditional students.
Flexibility to teach across different formats—including online, in-person, and hybrid classes—is essential to reach students effectively in various learning environments.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their ability to teach a diverse population of students, including those from different cultural backgrounds and ages, as well as high school students enrolled in dual credit classes.
*Specific Position Duties*
* Teach applied lessons to music students, focusing on weekly private lessons, studio performance classes, and chamber music.
* Instruct music theory, sight-singing & ear-training, and music appreciation courses, catering to a diverse student body, including dual credit high school students.
* Adapt teaching methods to various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods as reasonably requested by the college.
* Participate in recruiting, advising, and retention activities, contributing to the success and growth of the music program.
* Engage in departmental and campus-wide committees, demonstrating active involvement in college affairs and governance.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field, with a willingness to explore and integrate music technology and software, including Steinway Spirio technology, into the curriculum.
* Exhibit proficiency in performing, with a record of concert/recital performances, and demonstrate piano proficiency.
* Show commitment to teaching excellence, work ethic and excellent communication and presentation skills.
*Minimum Qualifications*
* Master’s degree with 18 or more graduate hours in Instrumental Performance and/or Music Theory from a regionally accredited institution.
* Demonstrable proficiency as a performer on guitar/string instruments or wind instruments.
* Demonstrated ability to teach students from a wide spectrum of ages and diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
* Extensive knowledge of music education and a record of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.
